Thus diverse supplementary foods enable intake of balanced nutritional elements.\n However, while everyday foods are simple, food prepared for formal events such as festivals, weddings, 60th birthdays and funerals are real feasts in volume and quality. These are also opportunities to eat foods seldom eaten in everyday meals : meat and fish dishes, rice cake and fruits. Of these, at the frequent ancestor worship events, local residents are also invited to eat together. In this way, Korean society has a custom of eating together at formal events with family and relatives, and also with neighbors and villagers.\n Thus Korea's food lifestyle is incomplete with everyday foods alone, and overall nutritional balance is obtained by combining with formal foods provided at formal events.
