Furthermore, some cultural events saw their budgets cut. Moreover, municipal mergers had an impact on public facilities. To reveal their actual condition, this paper focuses on regional public facilities. There are many merged municipalities. This paper particularly focuses on surrounding areas of merged municipalities. \"Surrounding area of merged municipalities\" means \"the old towns and villages that are incorporated into cities in cases of incorporation-type mergers. I n cases of consolidation-type mergers of old towns and villages that are not municipalities, city hall is centrally located in the city.\" As survey method, I selected theaters and concert halls, and museums of surrounding merged municipalities and central areas of their towns and villages, and non-merged towns and villages, further conducted questionnaire surveys for their. Though comprehensive analysis of the results, I aim to reveal the actual conditions of cultural facilities of surrounding merged municipalities. I thus reveal that the Heisei municipal mergers had a more serious impact on theaters and concert halls than on museums. The cost savings associated with mergers might have had a particularly bad influence on events to promote regional identity.
