Approximately 320 data extracted by searching the archive with keywords such as \"Rappa\" can be classified into data on bugles as musical instruments, bugle player, and bugle call. Focusing on the bugle call in particular, it is found that many French bugle calls and marches were used, and that there was a special usage called \"bugle sign\".\n　Bugle sign was communication for identifying an enemy or an ally by exchanging a predetermined bugle call in a question-andanswer format. However, many records show that bugle sign and countersign fell into the hands of the enemy and had to be revised many times.
