A prominent researcher on universal design was invited from the States, who delivered a lecture on accessible tourism during the Shizuoka Universal Design Convention. A lecture by the author supplemented information on general situation in Japan, and a discussion session with questions from the floor followed. Besides, the author participated in a conference on universal design (The Third Conference on Designing for the 21st Century) held in Rio de Janeiro, to exchange ideas with overseas colleagues.},
