| 内容記述 | 本研究は、現地英語新聞The Straits Timesに掲載された「人種調和の日（Racial Harmony Day）」に関する言説分析を行い、以下の問いを明らかにするものである。第一に、どのような文化・芸術活動が行われてきたのか。第二に、それは国の動きや社会問題とどのように対応しているのかである。これらの問いを明らかにすることで、国民統合・文化的統合における中心的価値観と手法の変遷を究明する。 本研究で使用するデータは、シンガポール国立図書館に所蔵されている1997年から2017年までの351の報道記事と19のレター（投書）である。 その結果、文化的統合における中心的価値観と手法は、トップダウン式のアジア的価値観重視のアプローチから、草の根のイニシアティブを通じた「思いやり」や「共感」に重点を置くものへと変化していることが分かった。また、プログラムの内容も、いわゆる3F（食、ファッション、フェスティバル）を中心とした文化活動からコミュニティ・アート等の芸術活動へと変化していることが明らかになった。 |

| 内容記述 | This study analysed the discourse on Racial Harmony Day in The Straits Times, a local English newspaper in Singapore. This study investigated how national values have been transformed and manifested through art and cultural activities. Accordingly, we examined the following questions: （1） what cultural and artistic activities have been undertaken in Singapore?; and （2） how do they correspond to national development and social issues? Data were collected from 351 press articles and 19 letters, published and/or written from 1997 to 2017 in the National Library of Singapore. The results reveal that the core values and methods of cultural integration have transformed from a top-down, Asian value-oriented approach to a focus on ‘caring’ for and ‘empathy’ through ground-up initiatives. The programme contents also experienced a shift from culture-centric activities on the so-called 3Fs—food, fashion, and festival—to artistic activities. |
