| 内容記述 | 本論文は、ホームスクール実践者への質問紙調査とインタビュー調査を通して、日本のホームスクールの全体像を把握し、その現状と課題を明らかにすることを目的としている。「学校信仰」が日本社会に深く浸透している現状を踏まえた上で、「ホームスクールの実践の意義」を解明する。 ホームスクールは、アメリカやイギリスなど世界の多くの国で、法律で認められている教育形態のひとつである。一般的に親が子どもの主たる教育を学校に任せる代わりに、主に家庭で教育することをホームスクールというが、その方法は家庭によってさまざまである。日本において、その知名度はまだ低く、またその実態に関する学問的研究はほとんど存在しない。 日本のホームスクールは不登校と関係が深く、本調査においても子どもの不登校をきっかけにホームスクールを選択した人びとが多いことが明らかになった。しかし、「不登校の受け皿」や「休養の場」としてホームスクールを選択した人は少数であった。多くの人びとは、ホームスクールの実践を続ける中で、ホームスクールを「学校と同等の、またはより優れた教育の選択肢のひとつ」として肯定的に捉え、積極的な実践姿勢へと変化していく様子が見られた。 日本のホームスクール実践者の多くは、イヴァン・イリッチの教育の「学校化」理論に賛意をしめしている。また、実践者の多くはジョン・ホルトの教育哲学である「アンスクーリング」の理念を参考にしながら、ホームスクールを行っていることが明らかになった。 |

| Abstract | ||||||||
| The purpose of this paper is to grasp the overview of the current conditions and issues of homeschooling in Japan by using questionnaire surveys and interviews. Provided that the most Japanese share the value of going to schools as obvious, my research attempts in particular to clarify “the significance of practicing homeschooling”. Homeschooling is one of the educational methods that is permitted by law in many countries, for example the United States, England, etc. Homeschooling is an educational method which parents educate their children at home instead of sending them to schools. Styles of homeschooling depend on households. Homeschooling has a low recognition and few academic papers exist on it in Japan. Homeschooling is related to school non-attendance in Japan. My research revealed that there are many parents who chose to homeschool because their children do not want to or cannot attend schools. However, few who practice homeschooling think that their home is a shelter to escape from schools. Most of them positively recognize homeschooling as "one of educational options equivalent to or better than schools" and their attitude toward homeschooling is becoming positive in the process of homeschooling their children. Many Japanese parents who practice homeschooling express their agreement with Ivan Illich’s theory of “schooling” of education. Moreover, they use Holt's educational philosophy of "unschooling" as a reference in their homeschooling practice. |
